Canada Bulletin Board
Policies and Etiquette
of the Canada & Friends Forum
The Canada and Friends Forum has always endeavoured to provide a friendly, welcoming environment where Canadians and friends from all over the world can meet to exchange ideas and opinions.
In order to continue making it a place where people feel comfortable in expressing themselves we have compiled the following policies:
Management reserves the right to set and enforce community standards for this forum.
Unacceptable language is not permitted. Any message containing profanity or offensive language will be edited or possibly deleted by management.
Flaming and spamming as well as slurs or slang with reference to race, religion, ethnicity, sex or nationality will not be permitted and messages that include these will be deleted. It is always better to debate the issues as opposed to attacking someone with an opposing opinion on a personal level.
Posts must not contain defamatory or threatening content or be in violation of copyright laws.
Questions or concerns regarding managerial decisions should be submitted in e-mail and not publicly on the message board.
Advertising* is not allowed, however links incorporated into your signature are acceptable, provided the post itself is relevant to the discussion. (*This includes pyramid schemes, chain letters and petitions.)
For any of (but not limited to) the above reasons, messages may be edited and/or occasionally deleted.
First and foremost, however, it is YOUR responsibility.
Delphi have given the members two valuable tools. You can opt to ignore any threads that may upset, offend or displease you. You can also ignore the posts of individuals. This enables BB management to worry a lot less about "censorship" or the aforementioned community standards.
We promote courtesy and consideration of others. These guidelines (not rules) will help you feel comfortable in our forum:
As a community, we strive to be respectful. This means we do not only avoid flaming, but where others might stoop to sarcasm or condescension, we attempt to rise above it. Those types of subtle put-downs do not represent the standard of conduct we wish to uphold.
Please be mindful of the **international** membership on this forum.
It has become customary for members of our forum to use a real first name, often as the nickname component of the Delphi nickname(membername), but we are quite happy to accomodate those who are not fully comfortable with this.
Demographically, our membership is middle-aged and therefore this could be
considered a forum for adults.
The best way to be a good netizen of the Canada & Friends Forum? Do unto others as you would have them do unto you! Take a few minutes to LOL at someone's joke, participate in someone's game, and acknowledge the posts that others have taken the time to write. We ALL feel shy or intimidated or unsure at times, and that includes the person whose post you just read. :-)
