Basic Cookies

1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
cream sugars together with 1/2 cup butter

Combine and beat:
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
1 tbsp milk

Add and mix with the sugar mixture.

Sift and add:

1 cup flour
1 tsp soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt

Beat until smooth and add:

1 cup rolled oats.

Now...you can add 1 cup of:

Nuts or chips or broken smarties or coconut or raisins etc.

Spoon onto greased cookie sheet and bake at 350 for 10 to 15 minutes.

Chocolate Cookies with Peanut Butter Chips

1 1/4 cup butter/margarine, softened
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
2 cups unsifted all purpose flour
3/4 cup cocoa
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
2 cups Reese's Peanut Butter Chips

Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla; beat well. Combine flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt; blend into creamed mixture. Stir in chips. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet (about 20 to a sheet). Bake at 350° for 8 to 9 minutes. Do not overbake; cookies will be soft. They will puff while baking and flatten while cooling. Cool slightly; remove from cookie sheet to rack.


Snickerdoodles

1 cup buttery Crisco
1 1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 3/4 cup flour
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
2 T. cinnamon
4 T. sugar

Combine first 7 ingredients. Mix and roll into small balls. Combine cinnamon and sugar in small bowl. Roll balls in this mixture. Bake at 375° for approximately 10 minutes.
