Canada has a total of 5 Great Lakes, which are all located around the US-Canada border and cover approximately 94,000 square miles. Although you may not notice from viewing a map of the area, the lakes are interconnected, flowing water to each other and into the St. Lawrence River. Each of these lakes is entirely fresh water and in combination, they make up nearly a quarter of the Earth’s fresh water supply.

If you ever have a chance, come visit these beautiful lakes. You’ll find plenty of opportunities for a perfect sunrise, a stunning sunset, or some great fishing! Climate change is affecting these areas however, and we don’t know how long the environment and the species within will remain safe.
